Rhiannon's Story

"All the teachers are nice and kind, and after each session I feel proud of myself, especially when I learn a new stroke.”

What Dad says...

"Rhiannon started swimming lessons because as parents, we made her. In the early days she kept coming back because we made her. This is normal for a 5-year old.

In her fourth or fifth lesson she scared herself by losing grip on the side - after this she was nearly put off, and I don't think we could have kept on making her come. However, having such a great set of coaches who cared for her, encouraged her and didn't let her indulge any notions of quitting, made the difference.

Building on this, she started to really enjoy the sessions as she realised she was getting better and could cover the length of the pool easily. Each time she "moved up" a group, she was nervous about being stretched, but the confidence and the encouragement from the coaches pushed her on in a way that made her feel so good about herself.

In her own words, "all the teachers are nice and kind, and after each session I feel proud of myself, especially when I learn a new stroke.”

What Keith and his Team say...

Rhiannon now swims for an hour completing multiple 25 meter lengths. She can "Tumble Turn" on Front Crawl and has developed rapidly over the last eight months. We always offer "Time Out" if she feels under stress, but Rhiannon is now learning to work out of her comfort zone and becoming an accomplished swimmer. Well done!
